Ok, so not quite Quasimodo, but you may have guessed we got our rating back for our Bushfire Attack Level assessment back this week, we ended up being a 12.5, which is the second lowest level and is meant to indicate that we are at risk of embers reaching our property, this is a definition from a NSW site, we haven’t found much specific to QLD yet:
BAL-12.5
Attack by burning debris is significant with low levels of radiant heat (not greater than 12.5kW/m2). Radiant heat is unlikely to threaten building elements (i.e. unscreened glass). Specific construction requirements for ember protection and accumulation of debris are warranted (Level 1 construction standards).
We’re not sure what it will specifically mean for our construction as yet but from reading through the following guide for Victoria we may lose our wooden alfresco doors :-( and have to install bushfire shutters

Plantation have sent our proposal back to the designers and the estimation team to see what we are going to have to change to meet the requirements, they have promised going to be sending us a revised plan and quote on the 10th of January.
I also found out last week that one of my cousins works at Plantation as an administrator dealing with all the post handover issues, I wonder if we will get assigned to her after the build, this could come in handy…..
Some news on the rental front, we have found a tenant for our place; a lady from work who lives in the same area is looking to move somewhere bigger and I happened to mention that we were looking to rent out our place. As luck would have it all the stars aligned and they are going to rent our place from early February, that gives us a month or so to finish our packing and find somewhere to rent ourselves. We are going to be renting our place out as a private rental so luckily no fees for that. Now we just need to find somewhere that’s cheap as chips :-)
