LOTS of changes for us.... we finally got the quote from the custom builder, let’s just say we were lucky not to require a ventilator when we saw the total price, it was well above what we were expecting for a single level 3 bedroom house and more than we were willing to spend for what we considered to be an "average house".

Though we certainly appreciated the time that they put into the quote it was just not the right one for us.

Needless to say we set about finding another builder and in the space of a week have manage to put the first deposit down on a Henley/Plantation Homes Emperor Q1 which is a staggering $70k less than the custom builders quote even with our changes.

The Emperor is 2 storey, upstairs is huge master suite with ensuite and dressing room, another bedroom with ensuite and the remaining 2 bedrooms share the main bathroom, there is also a large TV room that we will use as the gym.

Downstairs are all the living areas, we have a study, Home Theatre, laundry, butler’s pantry, the large kitchen, dining and family room.

We opted to move the master to the rear at no charge and also added the grand patio/alfresco option. The house fits what we want without having to make a large amount of changes.

We were also attracted to the large amount of standard inclusions that Plantation offer and they were very open on their pricing for options and reasonable too. we should have proper floor plan done up in the next month or so which we'll post up for your viewing pleasure.

We are hoping the rest of the process with them goes as smoothly as the initial quote and contract signing, but only time will tell.

We are thinking of heading down to the colour and design option centre at Springwood on the weekend if time permits.

We are really happy to finally be taking a step in the right direction but at the same time wish we hadn't wasted so much time with the customer builder waiting and waiting for them to complete the quote. Anyway, onwards and upwards.

The soil tests will be conducted this week along with a contour plan to help with the siting of the house and costings for the earthworks.

We went to visit the land today, we hadn't been out in about a month or so and were hoping that the fencing might have been finished, the front had been done and it looks like they are starting on the sides shortly.
