The electrical and lighting plan is now done! We went a little over budget mainly due to unexpected costs like needing extra circuits in the house and putting in a 20A provision for a future pool pump.
The meeting seemed to go relatively smoothly; though we did have to wait half an hour before being seen as the couple before us were taking ages on their appointment (they were back for their second and had to book in a third to decide on their plan...)
We ended up going with Saturn light switches for the whole house and just the standard Clipsal C2000 series power points throughout, we received 10 Saturn switches as part of the Timber Package promotion that Plantation were running at the time we signed up so we decided to keep with that theme, it will be great having the little LED light shining to let us know where the switch is in the middle on the night, it might save a few bumps and bruises.
We also ended up opting for black power points and switches in the Home Theatre, it cost a little more, but we think it will look way better than bright white on our dark walls, we also realized that we would also need to have black power points at either end of the island bench in the kitchen for the same reason.
A cool little feature that we did add was the micro switches in the top floor linen closet and the WIR in beds 2 & 3, this will mean that the light will automatically turn on when the door is opened, saves on having a light switch and we think it will be a great addition to the house.
Oh, the other thing we did was go for quad power points in the lounge and a few other rooms to make it a little neater than 2 doubles, it was the same price so we figured why not!
We think we have got it pretty much sorted for the correct placement of light switches and power points based on where we expect to be putting furniture once we move in. We also included a few 2-way switches and made sure we put in a couple of strategic power points for the vacuuming (thanks to the H1 “things you forget” thread for the tip)
We are going to have another look over the plans from the appointment tonight and make any final changes and send them through for amendment.
Here are the current plans from yesterdays meeting:
